Stimulating the Local Economy

Good morning! How goes it this fine Tuesday? I'm enjoying a cup of coffee inside today, the weather has turned brisk the past few days so my swing time has been limited. I guess this way I get more done.
ANYWAY. Before I go on and on about the weather.. thought I'd share the loot I scored last week from Kinokuniya. I don't see as many people posting about Japanese craft books anymore, are we over them? Maybe we're all cutting back on expenditures? I know it's been a while since I was there, and I had a hard time making decisions. I knew the flower book would be awesome, I'm pretty sure Amy has that. Here's a link to the flower book, the block book and the Cotton Time, which I thought was very good. (SuperBuzzy has everything but the CK book, this is my fav ebay seller for Japanese craftbooks.)
Once I found this Cath Kidston Mook I knew I had to bring Elizabeth back with me...she's a CK maniac. If I had a CK bag (with matching mirror and tissue holder) and didn't tell her about it I'd be in big trouble. Here's a link to one on ebay.
Check this out! It's a little clearance calendar. And can you just die over the little Choose Me! sticker? Because OMG I totally did.

Anyway that's it for my shameless consumption last week. This week is full of all kinds of wonderful activities, including spending tomorrow with Frankie and having lunch with Elizabeth and Nireko on Thursday! Ok, see you later aligators! xo

News Flash

Good morning good morning my fine feather friends, how are you? Did you have a lovely weekend? I hope so. It was quite nice here, and in fact Bret has taken the day off, so it's still weekend! I love that. The weather isn't cooperating for a nice day picking up in the yard but we'll still have fun. I know this is the same photo Elizabeth is showing.. but its so cute, I can't resist. Her backyard is so nice it was just fun to be there. Look at this cute patio set and her little fountain area. She's got the magic touch I tell you.
So what's the news... Elizabeth is releasing the new patterns today! I have three new patterns this time, Sugar Stars, Flower Power and Petunia Picnic, and she's got Zig Zag Too! and the much requested Coffee with Friends. She's also got some other fun news, so head over there to check it out!
Happy Monday my little peeps!
P. S. Thanks to Barbara for the lovely bundle of Simply Sweet for this pattern!

Paris

So yesterday was the opening of the new antiques collective, Paris Flea Market. It's open once a month and it was chock full of shopping ladies last night. Very fun. This is a sister store to Room with a Past in Walnut Creek, and we've enjoyed a lot of shopping there! Elizabeth was still working away and couldn't make it so I had to go on my own. Not. The. Same. She said the patterns should be ready soon, so we can start showing what we've been making! Yeah, I can't wait.
And speaking of not waiting... have you seen Holly's new fabric? Tea Time Florals Penelope is lovely! I love the new dark reds and blacks. Hop on over to her blog and check it out. I can't wait till quilt market!
Ok, better get a move on, Elizabeth and I are headed out this morning! Hope you guys have a great weekend.

Gardenscape

It's been a couple of very full days around here in PamKittyville. Yesterday I raced off at the first sign of great sunshine, Elizabeth and I had a plans for a photo shoot day. You can tell we make every effort to get a good photo. After that I raced down to Monterey to visit Frankie and return her phone. We had a great time walking up and down the farmer's market and I didn't even get any photos. She had told me about a street performer who had a rabbit that sat on his head. That seemed right up my alley, but he wasn't out yesterday. DANG IT. Tons of people though, the weather was amazing. We had a great dinner at Rosine's and then headed home to watch Happy Town before I left. Spooky!
Anyway... Elizabeth says we can start showing off our new stuff pretty soon! Market deadlines loom !!! Have a great day people! I'm off to catch up on some oddball stuff around here that needs doing. Then heading back to Elizabeth's. OMG people, her back yard was so pretty yesterday. Perfect mix of shade and sun.
Ok, see you later!

Coffee Klatsch

Morning peeps, how are things going with you? For starters this morning I though I'd show you this photo of what I've decided is the cutest bird bath base ever. Look at the rabbits and the little toadstool. Seriously, I could have just died over it. Frankie came up Sunday morning and the three of us went into Alameda for the antiques show. It was sold of course, and I know I'll be mourning its loss and fruitlessly hoping to someday find another. I know Joanna was going as well, I hope she didn't buy it. I'm thinking I'd definitely steal it when she wasn't home. Because LOOK AT IT. Yeah. See what I mean? You know you'd do it too.
Anyway, Frankie went home yesterday afternoon, and since Bret was working in San Jose we'd decided that we'd meet up in Gilroy for dinner. So she drove us down for some pre-dinner shopping.

Ahh, the Gilroy HomeGoods. It's been a while.

I tweeted about these.. then rounded the corner to see this. Holy cow, it's like HomeGoods missed me or something. (and wants me to bring Monica with me next time.)

Anyway I got a pack of the all polka dot flatware, it was too cute to pass up, and I (ha!) already have some of the gingham. I'll have another chance at the dinner ware ... Frankie left her phone and we'll meet up in the afternoon so I can drop it off.
Ok everybody... hope you have a great day. xop

Sunny

Good morning, how was the weekend? The weather was so nice here I can't believe it. The windows are already open this morning! FRESH AIR!!!

Friday night Joanna invited us over for some pre-market sewing. I snapped a few photos for your viewing pleasure. Joanna's new spring market offerings are wonderful, as usual. Just wait till you see all the beautiful fabric and patterns!

It was great. Hope you guys had a good weekend too. xo

Venturing out

Yesterday was all about sewing. Just left the house to head over to Elizabeth's to pick up some sewing necessities.
Worth it, right?

I see the sun shining this morning, don't know how long it will last, but me and the ginormous cup of coffee better head into the sewing room. And if it turns out, and I get permission, maybe I can even show what I've done?

R. I. P.

Yesterday I had to say good-bye to an old friend, my walking foot.
I bought it new when I got my Bernina 1260 almost 20 years ago. My newer Bernina has a fancy walking foot, and now, thankfully, so does my 1260. I was afraid that Dublin Sewing Center would be out of the old type of walking foot, phew. Close call.
Had a lucky break on the way home too, ran into my old friend Sharon G. at Nob Hill. I rarely see anyone out and about, and it was fun to see her after so long. Hi Sharon!
The day turned out to be lucky. Hope yours did too peeps! xo

Monday

Good morning my very special sunshiney peeps! How are you? It was a great weekend here, hope it was there too. So what did you do? Around here we worked in the yard and ran errands and I had coffee on the swing! Everything is green and lush and blooming. I know it will be toasty crisp soon enough so I'm enjoying it while I can. My yard smells like flowers and I can't resist hanging out back there. Today I'm picking up my Flower Sugar quilt from Diana and I'll sit and stitch the binding on the swing this afternoon. It really doesn't get any better than this people. And if it did, I don't know that I could stand it! xo

Today is brought to you by...

Sunny weather!

So how's the week been people? I think pretty good overall here. Yesterday I went and met up with Frankie for some window shopping and lunch in Santa Cruz. The weather was nice, still a little cool, but sunny shirtsleeves weather. It was good. Today I think I'll dead head some roses then hit the sewing room. That Holiday Happy isn't going to sew itself is it? So inside and out, best of both worlds. Hope you guys have a great weekend, see you back here next week!
OH!! P. S. the flag quilt is by Busy Bee Quilt Designs and can be found here! The fabric is all from my stash, so not any particular line.

Sew Happy

Feast your eyes on it my friends, Monica's Holiday Happy !!! It was dark and dreary and a little winter like when I picked up my bundle of happy goodness at Elizabeth's yesterday.
I've had such a great sewing week so far, and this is just the icing on the cake. Now I need to get to work, market is now less than a month away. Have a good day Happy Peeps. xo

It's not you, its me.

The other day over on twitter, I mentioned my sewing delimma.. what should I sew on, something new or something already in progress. Twitter peeps said something new..
but I went with something in progress. I love this quilt so much, I need to get it finished. Maybe today I'll work on sashing. But don't tell Elizabeth, she's on me to finish instructions for my doll dress fabric quilt Petunia Picnic she she can get it patterned up. Fat Quarter Shop has Holly's Doll Dresses fabric in the shop!!!

I'm not the only one loving all things Britannia.. check this out! I ordered two sets, so Frankie and I can have a sew day!

Ok, lovely bloggy peeps, I hope you have a good day.xo

If I Could Turn Back Time

In this episode of Hoarders.. oh wait, sorry, didn't mean to type that! I was cleaning out my closet the other day, thinking about quilt market and shoes, I'm sure a topic on a lot of people's minds. I love shoes.. and apparently I love hoarding shoes, because back in the dark nether regions of my closet I found my box of Keds Pennants. I've been 'saving' them. I've had a couple of pairs, but this last pair I just couldn't bring myself to wear. Because you can't get them anymore and if I wear them out they'll be gone. Possibly forever. So I got to thinking maybe they still make them which means I could order another pair, you know, backups. (Now don't they look like something Laurie would love? Who knows, maybe she's hoarding her own pair.)

I was searching around online for a suitable substitute and found these, PF FLYERS!! They're the original action shoe! Had to own them. Growing up if we had tennis shoes they were PF Flyers, run faster, jump higher! Holy cow.

And now for your viewing pleasure today..

Ok, I'm going to go do something. Have a good day Action Friends. xo

Chaos Theory

How was your weekend sweet bloggy peeps? It was some kind of amazing weather here, sunshine and blue skies, happy days. Bret and I managed to have some fun and get some stuff done. I can't believe he could mow the lawn at 7pm and it would still be light out! I love this time of year..
I out grew my small auxiliary bookshelf, so we took a trip to IKEA on Saturday to buy something a little bigger. Of course that meant some reorg people, and man, that's rough. My room is quite small and it's not unlike playing one of those tile games. I think you can imagine the frustration.
This is how I'd like you to imagine my studio, crammed with delightful vignettes.
More realistic.
Fantasy. Yum.

You'll have to imagine the rest. Think something that's maybe a cross between Monica's shelf-o-joy and an episode of Hoarders.

Anyway, it was great. Lots of outings, lots of hanging out, laughing, good times. Hope you had a good weekend too! Let's all have a good week everybody! xo

They're back

Yup, my peoples are back home and I'm so happy about it. The week went by fast for me, I did get a ton of sewing done. I've finished my last quilt for Quilt Market and will be delivering it to the Diana the amazing quilter this morning. Yesterday was fun, lots of pictures to catch up on. It was cherry blossom time in Washington, and they went to all the fun activities last weekend. Here's the picture that totally cracked me up. My little apple didn't fall far from the tree with her road sign pictures.

Her friend Dolley from 3rd grade book report fame. Totally cracked me up.
Anyway enough of our crazy family stuff! Hope you guys have a great day. xo

Early Morning

Good morning peeps! I'm at it super early this morning! Bret and Frankie have been gone for a week and they arrive home today! Bret had some business in Virginia and he took Frankie with him for some company. They saw a ton of sights, I'm pea green with envy over the Cherry Blossom Festival.. and this!!!
Yeah, I know. This is just right up my alley isn't it? Ok, peeps, gotta run. Hope to stitch on some borders before I leave the house this morning. Have a great day! xo

Coffee

Sorry, this morning I'm having a coffee break with some friends of mine. Then some sewing. Quilt Market is just around the corner so its sewing rows today. Right after I hang out with Laurie and Polly...

And then Susan.

That's the amazingly cool thing about blogging.. I've met these wonderful people in real life. Sometimes I really need to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.
Ok, it's back to work for me today. Have a nice one peeps. xo

(That's American Patchwork and Quilting and La Vie Claire.)

Lazy

I've been awfully lazy about blogging lately, I mean really, it's almost 9am!
Anyway, on an off all weekend there was a little Goldfinch that would perch on the frog fountain and sip from the fountain stream. So sweet. So impossible to capture. So you'll have to imagine it. Sorry. I am plugging away on my Flower Sugar quilt. I sewed all weekend! Six more blocks to make this morning and then I can start assembly. Hopefully I'll have it ready for Diana to work her magic on later this week.
Hope you guys had a good weekend. It's my friend Susan's Birthday, hop on over to Facebook and wish her a happy birthday ok?

Just dinking around the house and yard yesterday, getting some stuff done. My little cherry tree is finally in full bloom, and I'm totally crazy over.
Other things I'm crazy over, my pile of Flower Sugar and Color Basics. Can't wait to get sewing.

Hope you peeps have a good weekend. xo

Back to Business

Yesterday was so sunny and nice it was hard to believe that spring wasn't right around the corner! Coming home to a tree filled with Cedar Waxwings was a treat.

Frankie has loaned me her big wide screen monitor and I'm amazed at how different my photos look on the big screen! I'm really enjoying a lot of blogs that previously I had to scroll a bit for. So many people take amazing photographs and the new monitor really shows them off.

Anyway, big sewing day today. Need to pick up some stuff at Alex's to work on, plus its prime sewing season with market looming! Hope you have a day that's filled with unexpected delights!

Unexpected

That was a bit of an unexpected break... and I'll probably be taking one tomorrow as well. Frankie is home for a couple of days and we're just kicking back and having some fun. Yesterday we went over to Berkeley and did some shopping. This is the window at Tail of the Yak. You can see some wonderful photos here and here, and here, which also includes other shops, including Castle in the Air, which we also popped into. (No trip to SF, but wow, Amy's third stop looks interesting! )
It has been a fun few days... so I need to live it up while I can. See you later peeps. xo

It's that time again

Today is all about getting ready for the weekend. Vacuuming, a little grocery shopping, odds and ends. What about you? I know, you're already ready right? You're not a procrastinator like me. It's ok. I accept it. I'm saying good bye to my lilacs for a year or two. They need some serious pruning, so maybe even that will get done, if it doesn't rain all weekend. And if it does, I'll just hang out inside with my kid. Which means I better get on clearing out her room so she has someplace to sleep.
Happy weekend peeps! xo

The Mall

I really thought I was going to get out of going to the mall, but in the end, I went. And what the heck, it was mobbed. On the one hand I'm happy to see that, on the other, I like my mall quiet and with just a few people. Same with Target. I went there first and finally after months, the people are out shopping. Right in the jelly bean aisle. That's all I wanted people. Good grief.
But anyway, lots of pretty things at the mall. I always park in the same area and get treated to these Nordstrom windows going in. I love all the mix and match fabrics and the embellishment on clothing these days. Makes me wish I was still sewing garments.

I also love this delicious pile of Flower Sugar and Color Basics. I'm just waiting on some background to start on another quilt project. I can't wait, its so cheerful.

Didn't sew a thing yesterday. The shopping wore me out. Well that and obsessively searching for this solar bobble head Hello Kitty.

I'm still telling myself I'm over it.
