Secret Garden

We have kind of a tumbled down secret garden thing going on out back. Right now there's just no time to deal with demise of our trellis, so it's just hanging there looking decrepit till we have a free weekend to replace it. Mostly because we really don't know quite how to tackle this job and we're absolute masters of procrastination.

When you peek through the opening into what should be a delicious flower garden, you see that I did relatively little there this year, just cleared out as much of the weeds as I could and not up root all the sweet pea volunteers from last year.

The sweet perfume is heavenly. I crawled around and picked as many as I could and have little bouquets around the house so no matter where you walk you can catch the tiniest scent.

Sweet pea days are short. Once they stop blooming I can really weed out the garden, the pea tendrils are attached to everything giving those weeds a temporary stay of execution.

These wild flowers are all over. They look like some kind of pea, right?

Hmmm my sewing room is a mess but smells so sweet. I read a blog recently where people were commenting they wished that bloggers would share what kind of sewing machine they have. I have a Bernina 1260 that I use all the time, and a Bernina 180 that has an embroidery module. Don't use it much which is a shame, it's a wonderful sewing machine. I just love my 1260.

So that's the poop. Next week is the for sure count down! Have a good weekend everybody. xo

Summertime

If you're looking to pick up a magazine to read I think the Quilts and More Summer edition is the magazine to pick.

It's full of some Zombie-fun, this cute bag and an absolutely darling coaster set. And that's not all. Their new Scrap Lab with Joanna and Camille is a handy new column. This edition features our pal Brenda. All projects, completely cute.

Ok, the cup is empty so time's up! Hope you guys are having a good week. xop

Monday

Good morning friends, how are you? Another day at the mine here, lots to get done, two weeks from today I'll be packing the car for the roadtrip to Salt Lake City.

Scenes from the yard. Of course you'd think with all these lovely pictures I had a little Eden out there, but sadly, not so much. Like most things here around the PKM household, it's better viewed up close, stepping back and taking in the whole scene could scare you. Honestly, with all the rain my back yard is an weed filled mess. No time though, will have to wait.

More sewing. New Flower Sugar, new projects. I hope you're going to like it.

Ok, enjoy your week. Can't wait to start revealing some things around here !!

Good Day Sunshine!

So it's Friday right? Man the days are slipping by so fast now! I'm getting so excited for quilt market.

Isn't my snowball bush lovely? This is just one of about 50 photos I took of it this morning. Love the shades of green and the creamy white. Pretty soon the petals will fall like snow on my patio.

Happy Friday people! I ♥ you guys a ton.

Sewing with a side of Panic

Actually by the end of the day I felt pretty good. But lets just say the day had it's ups and downs. There were some sewing successes.. and then some others... not so much.

But like I said, it ended on an up note, so I'm grateful for that. Hope your days are going well... I miss checking in. Happy days peoples! xo

Still here

And still plugging away at my chores. Hopefully I'll have something to show you soon. We're closing in on the date right? I'm almost afraid to look at the calendar. I have barely peeked at Google reader so I don't know what you're up to.
I hope you're all doing well!! I miss you guys. A lot. xo

Simply Remarkable

How was your weekend friends? Had a busy one here. Woke up this morning and suddenly didn't know if it was Sunday or Monday? Does that ever happen to you?

Had a chance to have a quick read before getting busy. Have you seen this nice article about Terry Atkinson in this month's American Patchwork and Quilting? I totally think Terry is Simply Remarkable. I can't tell you how many quilts I've made from her patterns. I love how she organizes her work, diagrams her directions and the clear nature of instruction. And for shop owners she's a dream, her patterns kit up like magic.

Got out and about a bit to run errands. Of course as you imagine at this time of year, it's all about Quilt Market. Empty nest. How soon they fly from home. I got up on Friday morning and they were already gone. Guess it's time to clean up that window and move along. Hope you guys have a good week. I can tell already pickings will be slim, moving onto the sewing portion of the game. xo

Things that are cool.

It seems like it's just been just a few days since my last photo of this pair and now they look a lot more like birds don't you think? It's so cool they're sitting there and I'm in their face with my camera. One thing for sure, there's no making this location glamorous. Its under the eaves attached to those electrical cords.

You know something not cool about having a nest of hummingbirds outside your sewing room window? Projectile bird poop on your window, on a frighteningly frequent schedule. GROSS.

Ok, it's Thursday folks, if I'm not back here tomorrow you guys have a wonderful weekend! xo

DIY Power

Good morning my little chickadees!!! How is the week going so far? Around here, daily living is filled with bursts of sunshine and then chaining myself to the computer and sewing machine for the pre-quilt-market-scramble. It's totally going to be worth it though, just you wait and see.

Last year when I went to spring quilt market, I saw Melissa and got a copy of her completely cute book. There was one project I was dying to make.. you'll see at the bottom of this post I have a picture of Melissa and the actual shoe laces from the actual book.

When I picked up these shoes for last market (dang not available anymore) I knew I wanted to make some new laces for it, but I didn't know how to get that nice pro look with the little aglet on the end. Thanks to Melissa I do now! So here I am with my red-with-pink-dot ribbon laces. Totally cute right?

Anyway that was my fun project yesterday, now time to get busy. Have a super fun filled day!

Just so you know.

Good morning peeps! How goes it? Nice weather again, and while I did go out and about, I was working my you-know-what off in the afternoon. Luckily I had some really good mail from Sharon, my Vignette magazines came so time to take a break with a cuppa, you know? I had been looking for Vignette since the first one came out, so when I saw Sharon had them I was all over it!

If you haven't seen Vignette, its a beautiful magazine. I know a lot of you are stitchers so you're already familiar with Leanne's work. The magazine is a beautiful extension of that, as well as a lifestyle kind of read. And the photography, well it's just what I like, and I think you'll like it too.

Inside Sharon clued me to the Mystery Quilt! Its a mixed quilt of embroidery and piecework, using all the lovely fabrics from Lecien. Sharon is kitting the quilt up as close to the original as possible. She has kits for the lovely Cosmo threads as well. Seriously, hop over to her website and check it out. It looks like it's going to be so pretty. Sharon's already working on it.

Anyway, that's the news. It was so peaceful out back late yesterday afternoon with my tea and my magazines. Hope you had a nice afternoon too! xo

Swing it.

It's officially coffee on the swing season here in Livermore! Nothing made me happier this weekend than when Bret pulled out the canopy for the swing and threw on the cushion.

To top it off I got a new (to me) car! My old car's transmission died a couple of months ago and we've been looking around for the very perfect new car. Who knew seats that fold down were not a regular option on most cars? But now I'm back in business. And because I know you'll all be interested knowing my wicked ways, my car has a special button in the trunk that's lit up so should you get shoved in there, you can find the way out on your own!

More beautiful blossoms in the sun.
Please ignore the horrible palm tree and the ginormous trellis that's fallen over in the rain this year. Pretty blossoms.. that's what's important.

The View from Here.

I had to waste most of a sunny day here yesterday over a creepy headache. Could be the pollen in the air, who knows. I did head out back in the afternoon to sit a spell on the swing so Peep and Rocket could get some fresh air. Chris, I'm sorry to say it might have be in the 80's here.

From the ground I could see the two birds beaks...so I had to pull out the step stool and get a better view.

Pretty darn cool. Hope you guys have a nice weekend. I can't believe a whole week has shot by. xo
