Week in Recap

Wow the week seemed to go by so fast. What's with that? I was busy busy but still, doesn't seem like I have anything to show for it. And I better get cracking, IT'S ALMOST NOVEMBER.
Elizabeth and I had a nice lunch with Nireko this week. It was fun to catch up with her. She came bearing gifts of course, I have the whole collection of Old New Collection Spaicy Scrap.
It has a wonderful feel to it. I have been so torn between piecing with it or making a bag or two.. not sure. So no rushing on that. I loved the quilt in the Lecien booth, Kim has a nice little shot of the quilt here, and I am hoping that we will see it up on the website. There's just something about it.

In the mean time, still cutting away on my little Dresden project. I'm using the Lecien Old New Fabric Collection of 30's. It turns out that this line was designed by Atsuko Matsuyama of The Pink Book Fame. I'm weepy thinking about it.

Ok peoples, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Good Morning!

So peeps, how you doing? We are having some wonderful fall weather here, you know, 70s!! I love it. I've been doing some time outside in the yard, cutting few things back, raking up the leaves, that kind of thing. I've been lazy about doing anything outside, now I'm trying to get some stuff done around here. Slow going though.
Recently I decided to get some of the quilt tops that I still really love out and have them quilted as time and money allow. This is one that I LOVE. Its from the first Quilting with My Sister book by Barbara and Teri. I went through my stash and found all my favorite prints and used them. (I'm channeling my inner Mary here and trying to get some good on location pictures. Not a lot of luck I'm afraid. ) I bought this book because like so many of you, I love Barbara and Teri's designs, and I loved this quilt and the cherry quilt a lot. Next up is getting that cherry quilt quilted. I'm hoping Diana isn't too busy, I love her work, and I love how this turned out.
Ok, that's it for today. Hope you peeps all have a wonderful Tuesday ! xo

Everybody's doing it.

The other day I had the chance to go sew with my two Debbies. I went again, just for a cup of coffee because I was so busy and then stayed all day. ALL DAY PEOPLE. Anyway, Debbie was working on a wonderful quilt designed by Johna'Lee of the Scrappy Appleyard. Super duper cute.

Of course there's Dresden plate action going on over here as well. Seriously, I'm dying over it. And the runner with the hourglass blocks is wonderful. I love something that's just a tad more complicated to piece.
Amy did it. Sarah did it. And I want to do it too.

Working on testing out some ideas, because you know me, I want to do it a little different. But its fun. Well until I started cutting all my crazy pieces.
Anyway peeps, working on that and then a fun new project.. more on that later. Hope you had a great weekend. Tell me all about it. xo

They Walk Among Us

So Peeps, you know how I always have to go check out those aliens when I'm visiting Frankie? These aliens kick her aliens to the curb! Bret found these aliens last weekend but apparently didn't do his best when describing them as I had no idea. NO IDEA AT ALL. Seriously, they are pretty impressive by day but at night. OH. MY. GOSH. Just watch.

Happy Weekend Peeps!

Economic stimulus

I love how everyone is showing off stacks of purchases. This is it for me. I love the little Parfait Soleil, its an amazing little felt kit. I think Jona has some of the best photos of the booth that had these. I think we all know I'm never going to make it, but I love it none the less.
The hankies and the buttons both came from Dusty's Vintage. I don't think they have a website, if they do I can't find it. I find them to be the sweetest people there. I snatched that rose hanky from the hands of our friend Jackie Clark. Seriously, she gave it up to me pretty easily, but later I felt a little guilty. Not guilty enough to send it to her though. Sorry Jackie.
The buttons are amazing and I can't imagine that I'll ever even take them out of the package let alone use them. Seriously people, its a sickness. I didn't even take them out for the picture. I'll put them with the rest of my package of buttons. Where ever those are and don't get me started looking for them because I have errands to run today.

Ok peoples, hope you have a good day !

Short and Sweet

Good morning peeps. Ok, this is it, the last of the road pictures. It will be safe to come back here after today!

This is the border station we had to stop at on the way to market. It was quite a ways from El Paso, kind of out in the middle of nowhere. They asked if we were citizens, we said yes, and that was it.

I'm not ever sure exactly where this was. Probably not too far into the trip home, Texas is still pretty green here.

Chris, this photo is for you. We didn't see any cowboys along the whole trip. Not the kind you were looking for. I had one picture on my sidekick from the hotel in Fort Stockton, but its so blurry you can't really tell. Believe me... we really looked. And for sure, no chaps. Sorry. I can't help feeling I really let you down.

This kind of sign would scare the you-know-what out of me if I lived around it all the time. I guess its a matter of what you get used to. The only scarier sign was the one about prison and not picking up hitchhikers about 2 miles from a big rest stop. Ok, yeah, two miles ago I was watching for escapees and now you want me to rest? Between that and the Watch for Snakes warnings, no thanks.

Everyone who recommended we stop at Buc-ee's, you were right, it was amazing. They aren't kidding they have the biggest cleanest bathrooms.. I tweeted a phone picture of them. You can see all the phone photos I tweeted here.

This is our favorite Buc-ee's billboard but its like one in probably 100 going both ways. Seriously, every few miles there's another.

And another.

Here's a quickie out the window shot of the cotton fields in California south of King City but before Bakersfield. You can see the big bales of cotton, and we saw a bunch of cotton picking machines on our way home. It was very interesting and if it wasn't so far I'd be going back to check it out. I wonder where our California cotton goes? Hmm, I'll look into that..
Anyway, it was a great trip peeps. Thanks for following along with us. Spring Quilt Market is just 7 months away! I'll start resting up now! xo

Along the way

I know, I know, nothing worse than looking at other people's travel photos, right? Look away now, I'm doing photos along the way to Texas today. I can't help it, I have a ton and I did manage to weed it down. Tomorrow will be the coming home photos. I love taking pictures out the window of the car, and now I'm subjecting you all to them!
Sunrise, a little bit north of Button Willow.
I love the Welcome signs to other states. California has no sign along 10, I can't believe it.

These are some of the most pristine Saguaro cactus we saw. I think they were transplanted there, it was the entrance to a fancy shopping area I think. I just love how they look, exactly like cactus should look.

These mountains are so beautiful and the sky, I could take wonderful sky and cloud pictures all day. But for you, I'll try and control myself.

This is on the way out of Arizona. Again, amazing.

New Mexico. Today I'm sending off my money order for the ticket. Thank Goodness for the Cracker Barrel, otherwise NM was a bust. Sorry New Mexico lovers.

Thank Goodness I 'd learned my lesson by the time I got to this spot. I think it's a clever ruse, we didn't see any construction along the way.

Oh I love Texas and it's 80 mph speed limits. And the people for the most part do drive friendly. Thanks for the good time Texas.

Ok, this is it people, the last of the Fall Quilt Market 2009 photos. There are so many great photos out there. Just check at KPKM. I'm seeing stuff that I didn't even see at the show. How weird is that?
Who doesn't love Jen and her insatiable needs?

Sandi's booth was divine and she won the award for Best Merchandising I believe. It was nice getting a chance to chat with her.

Here's the Famous Bari J. She was at the Windham booth with her new fabric Art Journal. (and her new hair cut!!)

Here's Denise's booth. Her work is lovely and her new book is beautiful. Check out her blog for all her wonderful designs.
Here is Amanda from the Quilted Fish. Her designs are so fresh and fun. Check out her blog for photos of all her new patterns.

Lastly today, pictures of the Lecien booths. Elizabeth made several quilts and bags for the booths, I made a couple of bags and an apron. It was great fun!

Quilt Market

I'm closing in on the photos. As usual I think I have millions then they turn out to be not as good as I hope. Thank goodness I'm not set on a career as a photographer. Anyway here we go! The very sweet Brenda from Acorn Quilt and Gift Company! She's smiling like crazy because her first line of fabric is out, Celebration. You can read all about it on her website and blog, but I don't think I need to tell you all that!

Here's Anne and Karen. They look so happy!!! Karen is opening a brick and mortar shop, hop on over to her blog and check it out!

Holly Holderman and her Dolly Dresses fabric. O-M-G people. Just ask anyone, completely losing my **** over this fabric. OUT OF CONTROL losing it. I won't go on (and on) about how I know she completely made this collection for me. Just my cheery happy colors and cherries, new cherries.
Ok, I have to just stop myself.. I could wax on about this but I'm starting to embarrass myself. I'll just go get my precious I mean salesman book and gaze at it quietly on my own.

Here's Celine another market friend. She has some very cute new quilts and bags this market. Check out her blog for all her new offerings!

Heidi certainly needs no introduction! We had a very fun chat with her about work and being a mom of young kids. Check out her blog, she has a lot of wonderful pictures of market.

Here's Rene's booth. She was busy every time I came by, so I don't have a picture of her, but here's the cover of her book due out this spring. Rene is just a crack up. Seriously.

Of course no market recap is ever done without Cindy! We lucked out, Cindy invited us to dinner with her group and we had a blast. Thanks Cindy! Oh! And she had exciting news, her daughter joined her at market, and it looks like she's continuing in her mom's very accomplished footsteps! That's got to be a lot of fun.

Barbara is a sweet as her new darling line of fabric Simply Sweet! You can read about all her news over at The Quilt Soup Blog.

Gudrun is constantly cracking me up. She's introducing her new book Strip On! this market! Here she is in her amazing shoes 'displaying' her book. Gudrun you crack me up. Read all about her trip to market and her new line of fabric Olivia here on her blog!

Ok, that's it for today peeps. Lots of places to go and check out. Everyone has wonderful market posts to share, and don't forget the list at KPKM, seriously there are some wonderful blogs listed there just for your viewing pleasure!

More Quilt Market

Drinking coffee by the gallon here to make up for the coffee I missed at market. It's DELICIOUS. I'm going to just run through my photos and load them up. There are so many wonderful photos on the KPKM channel I don't feel so much pressure. Be sure and check it out. I just got lost in the blog posts, blogs I haven't seen before, wonderful. I'm going for simple and sweet here. Seriously the links are what will wow you.

Speaking of sweet, here's Angela who keeps us going over at the Moda Bake Shop. This was her little area, where she had bake shop goodies for attendees to admire.

Here's our friend Mary, Mary's Cottage Quilts. We were cracking up, she strikes that pose everytime we see her! As usual she has some lovely offerings.

Tula Pink and her darling mom Kathy. I'll have another picture of Jen to share later. Hil-arious!

Here's Kate Spain showing off her new line with Moda, Verna. Very pretty and I know we'll all be clamoring for it come spring time! Nice to meet you Kate!

The darling Fat Quarter Shop girls! We had a little meet up by Moda and passed off the new Late Bloomer Quilts pattern covers. (up on the website soon!)

Polly, Laurie and Kate in the Minnick and Simpson award winning booth! Bar Harbor wowed me with its big floral focus fabric. Love it and totally love Laurie and Polly!

Speaking of some wonderful stuff, on that same block Sherri and Paul were busy as bees. I can't wait for Spring Market it Minnesota. We're going to be hanging with these two plus other wonderful Minnesota peeps.

Here are Barb and Mary from Me and My Sister designs! Nice to be chatting it up with them this market! Their darling booth shows up on many a market photo so be on the lookout.

Here's the delightful Anna Maria Horner, her lovely daughter Juliana and baby Roman. She has some wonderful fabric premiering this market. People were wowed by the textured panel.

Elizabeth taking a break on the little bed in Joanna's booth. Now look at that sweet photo of Joanna below. Set up day.. she's always busy.

Ahh another favorite, Rosalie Quinlin. She's so completely darling and it was nice to spend some time chatting it up in the booth featuring her new fabrics for Lecien.
We loved working with her fabric, Grandmother's Flower Garden and Elizabeth's quilt At Home in this range is winging it's way around the world as we speak!

Of course I had to get her new book!
More favorites, here's our sweet friends Tamara and Jackie and their friend Lisa.
