Swingtime
Tuesday morning brought some nice cool morning weather. It smelled like back-to-school to me. Whatever that smells like, maybe the damp, maybe the dust on the leaves. Maybe freedom. The backyard was cool and crisp and I had to wear a sweater with my pj's.. you know that's crisp! Didn't last long but it felt soooo good.
Surprise gloxinia blooms, I'd forgotten I'd crammed that pot pack under the hydrangea and the whatever else is there. Cleaned away some dry blooms and out pops these velvety beauties.
Tiny succulant blooms. I am loving this little bowl of plants. Those spiderweb whatevers are so cool... they're towards the back. I hope you enjoy my vast knowledge of plant (g)nomenclature. (Seriously, doesn't gnomenclature seem better?)
Backyard nemisis. Of Rocket and Peep anyway. They SO do not like this cat. (or any other cat or the squirrels or doves or ...)
Spooky.
Welcome September. I embrace your cool mornings. Keep them coming.

There is a certain "smell" or "feel" when the calendar page turns to September. Even though it's almost 90 degrees here every day, the nights have a certain "nip" to them. I call it shorts and sweat shirt weather!
Blessings
Linda
September is a nice month. Cool enough to enjoy a walk or a sit on the porch and warm enough to still have flowers to enjoy.
So far, September smells like sweaty third grader. It's HOT here.
Your flowers are so pretty. Now if we could figure out a way to make that cool weather stay all day long we'd be set. I'm tired of sweatin over here. I say bring on Fall.
I'm waitin' for cool afternoons.
Pretty flowers, tho!
Never tried gloxinias...intimidating for some reason.
Feels like Fall here too Pam. Love your pretty flowers, ours seem to be mostly finished, or, at least mine do LOL! Also have to love the glimpse of kitty on the fence, what pretty green eyes!
those gloxinia's are an awesome surprise! so pretty.
It is just a smidge cooler at night here...not so you'd notice much. I know you like your season changes...so bring it on! By the way, you can 'discourage' your pest cat by sprinkling ground red pepper on the fence where kitty lurks. Once through the red pepper and a lick...they tend to avoid the area for a while.
Hurray for September! I envy your cool mornings, we haven't had them yet in Los Altos Hills, it's still bloody hot here. We live on teh side of a hill and i think it retains heat far too well. I have a pot belly stove I am dieing to make sillet cornbread on.... I suppose I'll have to wait till October.
Great pictures of your garden. I love the shot of the sneaky cat peering through the leaves! And that gloxinia is so pretty. I love the cool mornings too, and have been bundling up in a sweater for the trip to work, and then end up way hot all the rest of the day!
I love "sweater weather" .... fall has always been one of my most favorite seasons (and I hate to say it's what I missed most when I lived in Southern California for 6 years .... sorry .... I know you're a California girl....but you're north right? maybe not as bad as down by Pasadena.)
...and, don't you LOVE Victoria Magazine? I just got that issue in the mail last week .... I've always thought their photography was GORGEOUS!!
Oh how I miss California!!!! You gave me a warm fuzzy feeling talking about the crisp morning air and I could swear I smelled your coffee brewing!
Well, I now consider myself officially unburied, as I have just caught up with all of your recent posts. :-) Your backyard blooms are beauteous. Here's to more cool mornings for you!! (I have more than enough up here to share, by the way!)
Back to school smells like crayons, glue, and constuction paper...love it. I am eagerly awaiting some crisp, cool, coffee sipping weather, but all I'm getting is Hanna...maybe Ike...and then who knows, but Fall is coming. I loved the photos as always!
I love your succulents. Your knowledge of nomenclature is charming!
Poor Rocket and Peep! I love cats but they do really enjoy torturing dogs.
Victoria, my favorite magazine. I almost died when it went out of publication and was thrilled when they brought it back. Lovely plants and I'm with you...WELCOME autumn!
