Quilt Market let down

Wow real life is such a downer. At the grocers yesterday not one person said "Oh, are you PamKittyMorning" or asked to take my photo. Mostly it was "get out of my way, I'd like some carrots too please." What's up with that?

Anyway, after my brush with jury duty, I had to get back to work. I'd forgotten I had a key to Alex's house and while she's working Quilt Festival, I need to get cutting up some fabric in her studio. (and selling her underpants on ebay, oh just kidding) Speaking of Alex, here's the quilt I quilted for her way back when. It's a darling quilt and I wish I had a cool Popsicle right now!

Here's some of the folk that came by to visit us. How international we are, chatting it up with Rosalie and Melanie. We really had a good visit and it was wonderful to talk to them. I heard they had a great show, hope that's the case girls.

Here's our pal Cyndi Walker, it's a lot less Cyndi than spring market and she's rocking her new look! Love that shirt Cyndi!
Gina at Sample Spree!

Here's Kay Whitt, Cyndi and Elizabeth hanging out in the aisles before the official start of market. Cyndi's going to make that great trench coat pattern, I can't wait to see it!

Here's a peek at Kay's booth. She has soo many great patterns, her purses are darling and the clothing... I could swoon over it.

Ok, that's it for now. I'm tired and having a little trouble getting photos into blogger, can't tell if its me. Here are more blogs that have quilt market posts, Cottonsnwoollens and Hyacinth Quilt Designs, check them out!

And speaking of check things out, check out Elizabeth's website Late Bloomer Quilts. All her new patterns are loaded on there. Ohmyheck I can't believe how cute they all are.

Ok, Happy Halloween people! xo

Market Report 1

First off, I'll apologize for the crappiness of the photos. I mostly set my camera to auto and turned off the flash. I've had mixed luck with photos over the years and I just hoped this would work out. There's tons of really great photos out there (here's new market photo links today, www.tulapink.com and http://blog.heidikaisand.com/2008/10/29/luscious-colors-and-patterns.aspx?ref=rss)
Second, I just want to say that even though market is a TOTAL BLAST crammed with fun and creative people, it's a business event. I really admire the people who came to vend and the people who came to shop. Attendance was down this year due to the sad state of the economy. I hope you'll all support the businesses that attended. They're the ones that want your business and have shopped for the latest and greatest to fill their shops with. I had a whole little talk in my head about it, but it's not coming out nearly as eloquent.
Anyway it's time for photos.. I don't have to check in for jury duty again till 11, so I need to get this done and get dressed. If I'm not ready then I'll be temping fate and have to go in at 1pm.
Here's the amazing new Latebloomer Quilts Sign. I just love it so. Elizabeth has a far better photo of the booth on her blog. But I don't know that she's featuring her sign. She's at home filling orders like crazy. Anyway those lights are so cute, little eyelet covers, sweet.

More cute stuff.

Here's the booth in its glory. Elizabeth was a busy girl, she had FOURTEEN new patterns and a free pattern from Lecien. Links on that later with the requisite photos.

Here's some out of order shots of Jackie's booth. You know how we love those girls. Their look is a little different this year, but no less charming.

I could have laid here all day. Seriously people, market can be exhausting and wouldn't you feel like a princess?

Here's my fav sisters. I love them so much, they're so sweet and talented.

How sassy does she look? Gosh Tamara, you looked amazing and I wish we lived closer so we could all be having delightful crochet trimmed garments. But not just because I want stuff but because seriously, I love them so much.

Ok, I need to stop tempting fate. I have a lot more to come, I took 400 pictures and I'll have stuff to give away.
So see you soon peeps, I've missed you! xo

Home from Quilt Market

I'm back! And it was awesome. Seriously, I saw so many old friends and met some online friends in real life not to mention new people.. it was crazy fun!!! We got in later than usual, so we got in our car and high tailed it out to our favorite spot.

Now I just need to go through my 400 photos and get them organized into something coherent. And pet the dogs and rabbit and do the laundry and really really hope that I don't have jury duty tomorrow. But I have photos and tales to tell my friends. Don't forget to come back and check in ok?? xo

P. S. Can't wait? Here's a list of blogs with quilt market posts to keep you busy!

The Escape Artist

HOLY COW PEOPLE MARKET IS LATER THIS WEEK!!!
Elizabeth and I did some work this weekend together. She has some amazing things coming this time, I can't wait for you to see the ... well the stuff she hasn't shown yet. I admire all the designers who keep coming up with new wonderful things each season.
Bret and I had time to go and score a little pen for Binnie. I take her out every day for a romp in the back yard and I thought it would be nice if I could put her in a little pen and then I could count her NOT getting back into some little spot where I can't catch her. She's a master at that.
Anyway.. got the little pen and put it out back. Right off I heard the call of a hawk coming for the oak tree next door, so I sat on my little seat in there and played with her. Bret brought out her cage for cleaning so I left the pen to help.
Doesn't she look cute standing up there. This was taken about 10 seconds before she just hopped over the fencing and went over to sit in the hole she's dug in the path. Ha ha we laughed, look at how clever she is! So I pulled the little seat out and popped her back in there. About 30 seconds went by before she scaled the fence and then when perched at the top she launched herself triumphantly onto the lawn.
So we folded up the fence we bought an hour earlier and returned it to the pet store.
How was your weekend?

The Lover's Knot

One week till we fly out for Quilt Market peoples, can you believe it? I've been between sewing stuff so I ran out to the bookstore for some pre-trip browsing. Not like I don't have a supply of cozy paperback mystery novels on my nightstand, but you never know what little wonder you'll find in person.

And I found this! I figured I'd save it for the trip, but last night I finished this little cozy in the wee hours and today, picked this up for a peek. Just for a second, because you know, I'm saving it. I flipped it over to read the synopsis and see that my fav celebrity had written a review so now I'm really really going to have to take a look.
I'm three chapters in so far. I always had this idea that a quilt shop mystery series would be fun and it looks like I was right. Clare O'Donohue has written what I hope is the start of a nice little bunch of books.
Ok, I have till probably 2pm when Elizabeth drops off more sewing... wonder how far I can get?

So, I guess it really is true.

Last week at Frankie's we watched a little Hulu .. she had to catch me up on some hilarious Family Guy action. I don't watch it on my own, but sometimes these really crack me up when I see them with her. She keeps us current in pop culture.

Family Guy BIRD IS THE WORD! -

So can't get that song OUT. OF. MY. HEAD.

Monday I decided to hit the mall.. and what do I see? I chased this woman through the parking lot and into Macy's just for you people.
(and got permission to take her photo)

Apparently Bird is the Word!

bbbbbbbird bird bird, bird is the word, bbbbbird bird bird ...

Frankie Fun Friday

I had a free day Friday and went down to see Frankie. Man was it ever windy! Sand whipping up all over the road, and the waves!!! I couldn't get over the waves. I haven't seen it like that in a long long time. But it was sunny and beautiful and the water was such a lovely color.
The weather is so nice and cool now. I love this time of year. Today might be 80 but tonight will be snuggle up with a quilt cool. Did you have a good weekend peoples?

Quilt Market Preparation

It's hard to find things to blog about when all the real sewing I'm doing is for Quilt Market and can't be revealed. That means there's not a lot to share on the blog. I doubt you care about how I cleaned my stupid solid surface cook top this morning. It just doesn't hold that fascination that just about anything else does. Still, it needed to be done. I bought one of those cool new cleaning kits by Scotch-Brite. I liked the idea of the handle. My wrists are wimpy and it was easier than using just a sponge with a scrubby side. But not as easy as having someone else do it for me.
Because I can't get over how much I really like cute little kits, I ordered this from Jen Duncan. I copy-catted Monica, she got one, and took a bunch of darling photos of it. She might blog it later. She's a gad-about-town and doesn't give us what we need, which is more posts with darling photos. Monica, get on that. Anyway, I love the whole presentation which Jen is a whiz at.

Elizabeth gave me some bits of Holly's new fabric and I cut myself some hexagons using my Darlene Zimmerman ruler and I'm going to make some little hex flowers like in my cool new book. Which in case you wondered, can be ordered here. I think page three!

Ok, that's about it. Hope you guys are doing good. xo

Keep it Real

Probably you caught that link on Whip Up to this darling tutorial at Chick Pea Studio last week, or maybe the week before. It could not be cuter, the project, or the presentation. So I thought I'd try it out. I grabbed up a big enough scrap of fabric and a hunk of leftover rick rack and got busy.
This is what keeps me from getting that too-big-for-my-britches feeling. Little mishaps like this.
Genius huh? So hey, maybe you'll give it a whirl. They're really the cutest aren't they? Except too cute to put my drippy coffee cup on. Well maybe not this one.
Have a good week peeps! The posting will start to get sketchy pretty soon... we're really closing in on market now!

Celebrity Reveal!

So back a month or so ago, I mentioned I had a new Celebrity... and finally today I can reveal who it is!!! Hop on over here and check it out! This new Celebrity has had many lines of fabric, and she's showing off some pieces in her latest, debuting this fall at Quilt Market. I've been a fan of hers since I've been quilting and of course when you see who it is you'll know why we have so much in common. I'm HAPPY she gave me a chance to do a little stunt sewing for her!
Ok, have a happy weekend special peoples! xo

Maybe

Just maybe it's going to rain. It smelled a bit like rain yesterday, and even some of the clouds looked like rain. I have something to quilt for Elizabeth, but I squandered the day running errands, watching the latest Pushing Daisies (seriously, could the sets and wardrobe be any better??) and reading outside on the swing. Don't rat me out ok? The squirrels were lazy too. You really can't blame them. The weather was perfect for it. I could have fallen asleep out there.. well except for the incessant barking of Rocket warning me about the squirrel.
Ok peeps, back to the sewing machine. Hope you guys have a great weekend!

More Boutique Patchwork!

See what happens when something triggers your little Japanese Patchwork addiction and you can't stop yourself? You discover more of these little boutique series of books.
I have a little collection already and these are just as good. I can't help but love this little pillow. Look at that wonderful apple fabric and ohmygosh look at that little bouquet piece along the top.

And this.. LOOK AT THIS!!! I could gaze at this all day. The colors, the trims and good gravy look at that zipper and the binding and THOSE BUTTONS.

So whatcha up to peoples? I'm sewing for Elizabeth today. Yesterday I went over to check out the new Sweet fabrics that Moda sent. Urban Chiks my friends.. (I know them by the way.) If you loved Swell you're going to really love Sweet! Anyway, Elizabeth has this new little nosegay pattern that is so wonderful I could have wept. No exaggeration. She needs to sneak peek it because again, OHMYGOSH.

Ok, that quilt isn't going to quilt itself.. better get busy. Have a good day happy peoples! xo
