Boy are you CA gals going to be surprised when you see a Zebra out there in the the TX hill county! Ranches that host exotic hunts...for real. I almost wrecked when I saw that big striped butt, mooning me as I was speeding around a curve. You've been warned!

Thanks for looking for cowboys in chaps for me. I'm still hoping you'll see some. If you don't, I suggest you take a side trip on the way home to The Pioneer Woman's ranch in Oklahoma where there are always cowboys in chaps. It's just in the next state-it can't be that far. Afterall, I have 3 states within a hour's drive of my house!

Man... just watch out for those speed bump warning dots things. In German we call them hügels, and I'm told they're refered to as "Texas Titties" there. No matter what their name... WATCH OUT for them!

OK I know you are going to see lots of cute stuff in Fredricksburg, there is a great Wool rug shop there I see advertised. Oh boy!! You still may see the elusive Armidillo, Texas Hill Country and watch out for the flash floods I hear about too. Safe Travels!!! Road Trip, put the top down!

Oh well, the problem is that you were probably driving on the interstate. Armadillos and tarantulas are ugly but they're not stupid. HA. They stay off the interstate and keep their skeezy selves to the back roads.

Fredricksburg is cool. Be sure to check out the Sunday houses. On your way back you need to make time to stop in San Antonio and see the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Bandera or Poteet will give you a more authentic Texas experience. HA HA.

If you are coming into Houston down I-10, you must stop at Buc-ees in Luling. It is an upper scale truck stop. They have wonderful clean restrooms, to die for fudge, and about a zillion types of jerky. And shopping you just won't believe. They will have lots of funny billboards along the way. One even said they make their ice from scratch. Have a safe trip and welcome to Texas ya'll!

The worst part of a speeding ticket is that now you can't speed the whole rest of the trip!!!

Hey, it's tarantula season here in Atascadero. It's the migration or something. We have only had a few, but I hear tales of HUNDREDS of 'em, hell, THOUSANDS!!!

And another thing!

When I was but a wee girl, I crossed Texas with my family, a loooooong long trip, you know, and as we exited into Arizona, we saw scrawled on an overpass "Ah hates Texas."
