When Squirrels Attack

Squirrels are jerks.  Yesterday a squirrel got into my house though the screen door.  Not the official way, the way where they claw their way through the screen. I walked out to get my camera and there he was! He was probably just as surprised as I was, and he jumped up on my hutch.

Ironic.
I guess that will teach me to just drop a bag of delicious bird seed right inside the back door instead of walking it out to the metal can that I keep it in. The one with the squirrel proof lid.  Lesson Learned. The hard way.

  1. Oh that is awful and yes ironic, that he should break an ornament with a 'squirrel' on it. We too had a squirrel in our house a few years ago. I forgot to put 'his' slice of toast out on the deck before leaving the house one day. Yes, lesson learned too - hard way!

  2. Ok, I'm sorry, but I had to laugh. First, "Squirrels are jerks". I'll have to remember that (and it won't be hard with my patio furniture -- I need to get something without cushions). And second -- that squirrel planter. Ironic indeed!

  5. They are jerks here too. This year they have decided to pick the blossoms off my camellia bush & tear them apart.

  6. Oh, goodness! I have always loved your little pink squirrel vase! I have a fool proof way for you so this will never happen again. Just get yourself two Scotties and two Pugs. Problem solved. We have tons of squirrels here and they never, ever get in the yard. Of course they run along the top of the fence to taunt the dogs. By the way. How did you get it back outside?

  7. We had a squirrel that tried to eat through the side of the house to get in the attic. I guess he thought our log house was a tree or something. My husband put a piece of flashing over the hole to discourage him. Mr. Squirrel decided to get back at us and ate through the satellite dish wire. No tv for a week.

  8. How awful! Hopefully Mr. Squirrel is now back outside. Pigeons are jerks, too. And waterbugs. All jerks!

  11. I'm sorry your planter broke. Keep in mind that the squirrel did not do this on purpose - animals act by instinct and was frightened of you and tried to get away in a hurry!

  13. 15 years ago a squirrel ran up my leg when my dog got hold of him....he thought I was a tree! I was so happy that I shook him off, I didn't realize for a minute that I had fallen to the ground in the attempt and broke both bones in my ankle. I steer clear of them now!

Squirrels ARE Jerks!!! I am sorry that your vase was broken. I see that sometimes someone has been chewing on my bags of plant food in my shed, and I thought that putting them in a garbage can might work. My garbage can is plastic and they chew on my plastic lawn chairs! There is enough wood around to chew on, so I don't get it. I wish I still had my kitty. The squirrels feared him!!

  16. It doesn't take long for them to find it if you don't put it right away. My husband feeds the birds and just gets infuriated when he sees the squirrels stuffing their faces. So he quit feeding the birds. We hung suet over the winter and they get to that too, no matter where or how we hang it.
I think that squirrel was jealous of your pink squirrel or maybe he was trying to help it escape. LOL.
