Every Dog Has His Day

BARK BARK BARK!!!

I'm having my day today! It's finally out, the book! THE BOOK I HAVE QUILT IN!!

This is my quilt, Cinnamon Toast. IN A BOOK. I HAVE A QUILT IN A BOOK PEOPLE!!!!

Ok, I'll get a grip on myself but still. I have a quilt in a book! I can hardly believe it. I have had such a great year. First I was in Alex's Machine Quilting Book,(I pieced a quilt for a step-out) then I was in Elizabeth's ABC's Of Words On Quilts (I did some machine quilting ) and now this. Neutral Essentials is Alex's latest book on working with neutral colors and I'M IN IT!!

Like others, my opportunities come from having good friends that offered me chances to participate in their own success and for that I am grateful. Sewing and quilting has brought me wonderful fulfilling opportunities that I would never have expected when I graduated from college with my BS in Business Administration in hand a shocking 31 years ago.

So I think you all know what this means!!! A BOOK GIVEAWAY! Leave a comment on this post and I'll pick a name at random on Friday!

Now, back to my regular non-braggy self.

Friday!

Hello Friday!  I'm headed back to my stunt sewing roots this week.  Alex called me and asked if I wanted to make a bag for the quilt market display of her new fabric line Mirage with RJR.  YOU BET. Sewing with a purpose is my favorite kind of sewing.

I love the big focal print, it begs to be fussy cut.  So I did, for a tote bag. I'll show you when I finish it up.  I have some perfect green handles the will go great with it.  Mirage ships in March/April.

Quilting in the Garden was a couple of weeks ago and Alex took a class from Freddy Moran and used her Mirage advance yardage for this fun Freddie style quilt.  Don't know Freddy? Just google her name and you'll see a slew of amazing quilts.  She's truly a quilting legend.

Alex also showed me her latest rulers, mats and rotary cutters from Quilter's Select. That cutter is pretty amazing.  I love the soft gray of the mat, nice and neutral.

That's all that's up here.  I love stunt sewing and it was fun to catch up with Alex.  Everyone is so busy it's hard to connect up in real life!  Hope you guys have a great weekend! Happy sewing! xo

Good Morning!

Good morning!  We're at Wednesday already can you believe it?  We've had some pretty wonderful weather here, and I just can't help but feel happy with the all the sunshine.  I know so many of you are still in the throes of winter and I'm so sorry.  This was my view Monday out the window at Holly's.  That old looking ship  is one of a pair that sails back and forth across the bay.  I love working over there, the views are spectacular, the  company great and oh my gosh the lunches people. Yum.

I've been wanting a smaller purse so I started working on an idea. I got as far as the pocket with the scallops so far.  Who doesn't love scallops, and they're everywhere.  Wanna see something adorable, check out this bag on Camille's instagram feed. Everyone is hoping for a pattern, can you blame them?

I keep forgetting to mention my iron.  A lot of you have wondered how I like it. I'm not crazy over it like so many people but it's a good iron. I don't know why I feel like I need to withhold my love for it.   It has a nice smooth sole plate that glides easily. Although it doesn't get as hot as my Rowenta, it doesn't leak. So far. I am neutral on the lift system. Wish they could make it silent, that little noise it makes lifting sometimes drives me nuts.  Maybe I'm just a crab.  I'm in the minority, most people super love it.  Would I buy another?  We'll have to see how long this one lasts. Do I love the color, YES. Is any of this helpful information. PROBABLY NOT. Sorry.

Maybe I'll sew more today, or maybe I'll be at the studio... not sure yet. Hope you're having a good week.  I hope you see some sun wherever you are! xo

Monday

Good morning and happy Monday!  Quilt Market is in the rear view mirror now, did you follow along on Facebook and Instagram like I did?  It was so fun to see all the people and the booths.  Everyone puts so much work in preparing for those 3 days it only seems fair to look and enjoy it!

I'm finishing up with the Pam Kitty Garden booklet pages today.  I have two free patterns that will be available to download once the fabric  starts shipping.   First off is Flower Patch.. It's a simple on point flower block, flower in the center with 'buds' going around the edges. It's easy to make with the alternating chain blocks.

This is my favorite, Tulip Garden.  I love that little tulip shape and wanted to incorporate it into another quilt after last years free pattern  Tic Tac Tulip. Holly showed it in two color variations in the booklet, navy here and then down below  a pretty apricot variation.

It's hard to decide which one I like best. I'm going to start working on a version in Pam Kitty Picnic while I wait around for Pam Kitty Garden.

LakeHouse Sales Booklet

Did you know LakeHouse had a line of neutral basics?   The Crème De La Crème collection goes from white to taupe and includes some pieces with the classic LakeHouse Pearl.

Tomorrow I can't wait to talk about Sunrise Studio and show you what Holly has in store for her new division of LakeHouse.

Ok, that's it for today!  Hope you guys have a great week. xo
