Helpful Friends

Yesterday morning was nice and rainy, I really loved it. I was drinking my coffee and looking out in the backyard when I noticed that one of the patio umbrellas was really shaking. Up popped this fellows head.
We have two umbrellas out back, one up closer to the house over our little patio table and one at the edge of the patio over the bird baths. Usually by the second summer we replace one and rotate the older faded one to the bird bath area.
Apparently this fellow didn't like the faded umbrella. By this morning, he's managed to rip off most of that whole little top section.

I guess now I should be grateful I never found those amazing colorful umbrellas with lace and fringe that I've seen in the magazines.
Hope you peeps have a great weekend. xo

That is so sweet! I miss our resident squirrel. She was killed in the road in front of our house last summer, and she's the only one that has ever come around :-(

Personally I think he was trying to tell you that you should get one of those fancy umbrellas. That would be more to his liking.
I saw several of his cousins running around here when I was out. Love watching them dash around.

The little guy is doing some renovations to make it more homely for himself....he's probably gone off to the store for the lace and fringe.....obviously the light wasn't right for him....!

Hey! Mr. PKM Squirrel is my squirrel's cousin!!! My squirrel has ripped into the patio chair covers and steals the stuffing. (In his defense, it's my fault -- I left an old one out there a year too long 'cause my old dog loved it and that's when Mr. Thimbleanna Squirrel discovered the joys of stuffing stealing. When the old cushion disappeared, he turned the only place he could -- the new cushions.) They're building their nests!

Here in the Great Northwest when the squirrel starts tearing at fabric it means more snow and cold weather! Hmm, got your snow shovel ready?

I wondered where Edgar went! I just went to Costco here (in Silverdale WA) and they have the new picnic sets and other gardening stuff. Didn't see the fancy one(s) you mentioned.

I have the same green faded umbrella. Maybe you could Mr. PKM Squirrel up to my house. I need a new umbrella too. Can't wait to see the replacement, sounds so cute!

Yikes. I don't think anyone hated squirrels more than my dear mom did. She had bird feeders you see, and she went crazy when she saw the cheeky squirrels hanging upside down from the feeders gorging on bird seed. She talked about getting razor wire for the eaves of the house, but we all talked her out of it. Thank god we never kept guns in the house!

I have an umbrella just like that! Except no rip, we just get bees who like to nest. I think you should find that squirrel and make him pay for a new one, if he could.
