Yawn

Good morning. How was your long weekend? Was the turkey good? Did you shop? Sew? Lay around? The turkey turned out fantastic this year, I don't know what it was, but everything tasted wonderful.  Not that it's ever all that bad, just this  year, somehow better.

morning coffee

We didn't indulge in any Black Friday shopping. Bret and Frankie braved the crowds for a movie, and attended to somethings that needed doing.  It was lovely and laid back.

And why lie, there was a lot of tv.  What about you?

Early Bird

Good morning! Today's the get ready day around here, how about there?  I'll have to clear off the dining room table of all the sewing stuff piled up and get it set for Thanksgiving.  Maybe I'll even get my pie made in advance, but if not, thank goodness for double ovens!

THanksgiving

Here's wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and a super happy weekend! xo

Blog hoppin!

Good morning and welcome to the third week of the Aurifil Ornament Blog hop!

Aurifil Christmas Blog Hop

Today is my turn to share my ornament with you! It's a simple one, trust me! I'm not a super-embroiderer like the others! I fancied mine up with some vintage holly and covered buttons.  I'm still madly in love with Anna's from last week!

aurifilornament

You can download my ornament pattern by clicking here! It's made using the simple stem stitch, but you could make it with any stitch you felt comfortable with! (or have your kids use a fabric marker!) I used a single strand of Aurifil 12wt red 2250, which is the perfect PKM red by the way!

Be sure and stop by and see what Victoria and the LizzieB Girls have in store for you!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Frankie yesterday, she enjoyed them! We had a wonderful day out and about!

Happy Birthday Frankie!

Good morning! Today's a pretty exciting day around here, it's Frankie's 25th birthday! I can hardly believe that the time has flown by. And I can't believe the most recent photo I have of her is on my phone! We were having lunch out and she was sending a greeting to Elizabeth.

We'll be celebrating over some Funfetti cake later today!

rowalong

I managed to get the geese done but not sewn together and one cup... more cups today I hope, maybe some row assembly, depending on my time. The cups are great, and I love the quick and easy handle.  My big accomplishment is the grocery shopping for today and Thursday.  I have my big fat Butterball turkey thawing as we speak! We're having a low-key day, what about you? Tell all!

And, it's Friday!

Seriously, I'm getting so much done I'm scaring myself!  Yesterday I managed to get a good start on my row-along flying geese. These are so small and cute, I can't stand it! Shown here are just two fabric pairs from that little pile.

baby geese

I think I've mentioned before I haven't been a fan of specialty techniques in the past, but Lori's have really opened my eyes to the possibilities.

Big plans for the weekend? I hope some sewing is on the agenda for me. This past week or so with all the sewing has really felt great! Thanks for all your nice comments yesterday! I appreciate them! Have a good weekend! xo

I'm not the coolest

What's up with you today?  I'm having so many productive days with so little to show on the blog for it I can hardly stand myself.   Sure by the standards set by people who really accomplish things it's kid stuff for sure, but for me! INCREDIBLE. If only I could channel this kind of energy into my real everyday life.

Anyway I have gotten quite a bit done on my to do list this week. Some things are a total work in progress that you can see soon enough! I have my row-along baby flying geese all cut and ready to start marking.

misc row along

For the first time in a while I'm trying to take pictures with my fancy camera.  I even popped the new close up lens on it.  I have tried to read about what other bloggers do...

misc row along

...but really I'm just not that cool I guess. First off I guess I should stop trying to use it like I do my point and shoot camera, which by the way, hands down is still the easiest thing ever to take pictures with. Well whatever, you get the idea, stuff is cut and there will be sewing. That's what's important.  Right? Ok, guess I better get busy if I want to show off some baby geese tomorrow. See ya!

Totally Wednesday

I can't believe it's already Wednesday. What the heck? How in the world does this happen?  Anyway, I've had some pretty good sewing days lately, and that's been awesome.   Now, lets catch up with business.  Did you see the cute ornaments for this weeks blog hop?  Emily has a wonderful snowflake.  I love the colors, her ornament looks so pretty on that evergreen bush/tree. I think it would be a pretty ornament to leave out all winter.  Pat has a some holly for you. Cute, love all the little french knots.  And Anna, oh my, her ornament is my favorite.  I know I'm probably not supposed to have favorites but it's the sweetest, every little detail is perfection. And OMG don't get me started on that rick rack treatment.  Seriously, why do I always forget about the wonderful things you can do with stitching and rick rack.

peppermint

I got side tacked yesterday.. I kept thinking about my stripes and wondering if they'd make cute peppermint Dresden circles. You know, with some white blades in between? I got 2 blades done then realized there are quite a few things on the list before I can devote any time to this. But I think it might be a fun idea. Maybe not pointed? I am not sure, but in the meantime I have to get back to the sewing room. Thank goodness for loads of coffee and tv! Have a good day peoples! xo

Tuesday

Hi there! What are you up to? I've been busily stitching away.. working on my top secret project and also finishing up my apple row.

apples

I think they're so cute, and I like how my row turned out. Of course later in the day, after I took these pictures, I found an apple that had been pushed back behind my sewing machine where I couldn't see it.

apples

So now my row has the proper amount of apples, don't worry. Phew. That apple could have easily become buried alive under subsequent rows.  Which by the way, that tiny little geese rows looks good right? Everyone is long done with it but I'm excited to pull fabrics.  Maybe later today!  It's been perfect stay inside and sew weather and the tv has been good, yesterday I saw a Law and Order: Criminal Intent I'd never seen before!!! It was not unlike a bit of a tv miracle.  Tell me what you're doing even if it's boring! I'm all ears.

Monday!

Good morning!  Did you have a great weekend?  It was a nice low key weekend here, some sewing, some errand running, some dinner out. The usual really.  Frankie treated me to some serious clean up recently, and I've been enjoying some organization that I haven't had in a while.  Why is it I can organize someone elses stuff but my own.. not so much?

Back to School with Pam Kitty

Anyway, what did I sew on? Well I can't quite show you yet, but the great girls at Fat Quarter Shop and I have a little plan we're working on.  I think it's going to be a lot of fun and I hope you will too. Can't wait to tell you all about it!

!NEWS FLASH!

Friday I met up with Holly for lunch and she let me know that the facility where we process our fabrics is still without power. This means that there will probably be some delay in delivery of Pam Kitty Love.

Ok, that's all for today.  I hope we're all off on a great week! I can't believe it's mid November already!

Catch Up!

Oh dear, it's been a long week! Most of it spent in my chair with a box of tissues! Not what I had planned at all.  But I'm on the road to recovery, bag of cough drops in hand!

Did you see the latest Auriful Block? It's by Emily, and you can read about her here and download the pdf to make the block.

November Designer of the Month Emily Cier

Speaking of Aurifil, did you hop over and check out the cute ornaments being made? Sherri has the cutest snowman, Amy has a wonderful bell and Gail has a cute bird on a branch of holly

Lori has posted the new row-along row, and it's super cute cups of cocoa.. or in my case, coffee!! I'm really feeling the pressure, I'm still on my apple row. I need to get it together!

So now it's time to announce the winner of the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks magazine! It's Louise who says, "  I love the block and the colors you chose...it has a truly vintage look.  Thank you for the chance to win the great magazine."

After Market

Good morning! Seems like AGES since I was here.. what have you been up to?  I had such a great time visiting with all the people I only see at market, meeting new people and seeing all the new things that are out there.  Everyone has wonderful photos of quilt market, and I hope to get out and find them and check out all the things I missed. There were so many people I only ran into once when I was heading to or from the hotel...you just never have enough time to visit.

LakeHouse Sweet Things Booth

I did manage to walk around and take some photos before quilt market opened, but then all the little lovelies that are out on the tables were put away, so my pictures are lacking those cute touches.  Of course quilt market is actually a working time, so I spent a lot of time sitting here in the LakeHouse booth  showing off Holly's new collection Sweet Things.  You can download the swatch booklet here (there's a Sweet Things 9 patch on the right, just click for the pdf) , and see the whole collection online at her website here.

BBOMsetting

Lots going on while I was gone as well. Jackie posted the setting instructions for the Blogger's Block of the Month! I love her wavy stripe fabric selection for the sashing.  I can't wait to pull my blocks out and decide what to do.  Thanks Jackie, I appreciate being included in your project!

row 5..all in a row

My last  row-along apples aren't even done and Lori has posted her next row.  Holy cow that's a lot of work, so I'm feeling a little stressed over it already! She's showing another great technique and I can't wait to give it a try. The last one worked so well, I'm going to fight my urge to just make them my usual way.

Quiltmakers 100 Blocks

This last news is SUPER EXCITING to me.. my block is featured on the cover of the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks magazine.  It's right down there on the bottom row on the right, and I couldn't be happier to see it there! I'm honored to be included in such an amazing group of designers.

Hope you'll leave a comment and tell me all about what's up with you! And if you have links to market posts, leave them in the comment section so I can check them out! I'm feeling very lucky lately! Thanks for checking in here with me! xo
